    Mayor John Tory's Toronto

Uh...I run in those marathons every year. Police man every intersection and allow streetcars and traffic through during breaks in the runners. You're just preaching your ignorance with every post.

Yes. "Significant" does not equal "Whole". "Delays" does not equal "Shut Down". I'll say it again: we're a small-minded big city. Holy shit, conversation evolves organically. Let it. It's a discussion forum. They're on the same day every year.

    Mayor John Tory's Toronto

Toronto hosts two marathons a year -- one in May and one in October. They're held on the same day every year and run the same route. Neither shuts down "the whole downtown core surface transit". I'm sorry that your antiquing is inconvenienced twice a year, but I'm pretty sure you'll live.

Seriously. I mean, it's not like these events/runs are held on the exact same weekend every year or anything. We're such a small-minded big city.

While you're right about the complainers, the support for runs in Toronto pales in comparison to elsewhere. Like, barely a fraction.

Also, the argument that marathons are stupid because they're dangerous is probably the most ridiculous. You know what's dangerous? Sitting on the couch. Or crossing the street. Enjoy your bubble.

    Mayor John Tory's Toronto

Plus, the routes are what they are for a reason. 1. You need enough space to accommodate the runners to avoid injuries (so parks are out); 2. If you want a fast(er) course to attract more runners, then topography needs to be taken into account (so again, parks are out, and there's a reason...

I know I'm biased because I'm a runner, but the ignorance is pretty heavy in this thread.

    Mayor John Tory's Toronto

I know, right? Why would we want to bring people into the city to stay in hotels, eat in restaurants, donate to charities through their fees, and spend other money elsewhere?

It's fucking fucked up is what it is.

What the fuck is wrong with this city?

Edge on Triangle Park -- 395 sq ft

Yeah, that's mostly what I was thinking too. I'm pretty set on finding a one-bedroom because I need/want the separation of space...but finding one that's small enough to be within my budget and has a good and functional layout in a neighbourhood that I want to live in may prove difficult...

Edge on Triangle Park -- 395 sq ft

Functional or not, what are your thoughts? I'm going to have to move somewhere much smaller than I'm used to, so anything under 450 sq ft seems unusual for me and hard to judge.

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

Seriously. That article had f*** all to do with Chow, other than SAL suggesting that the people behind the co-op (not condo, co-op) would support Chow because...lefties?

    Rob Ford's Toronto

I've found sources that cite an $11b net outflow from 2005, but I can't find a more recent source to support the $9b number.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

I've often seen references to a $9 billion difference between what Toronto pays into federal and provincial tax pools (all taxes combined -- income, sales, etc...) and what it receives back...but does anyone have a citation for that?

Yeah, I totally buy it too.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Why? I don't have experience with rehab, but I do with family at inpatient mental health care (CAMH) and they were more than happy to work with family members to coordinate day passes and supervision.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

I hate to be the spoiler here, but it's entirely possible that the story checks out...and that the unidentified "driver" that was seen with Rob and Renata was the supervising senior resident or staff person. Renata -- his wife -- could just be up visiting him.
