    Toronto Sugar Wharf Condominiums (Phase 2) | 299m | 90s | Menkes | a—A

Not sure I'd agree with that sentiment. Proximity to lake. Downtown. And a hot market. Multiple unit sales in Toronto are strong as of the latest numbers. The market will eat those units up in no time imo.

This conversation got a bit ... odd.

I think the idea for the pattern was good, but the execution may fall short. It's too subtle and becomes almost invisible, unless you look for it. I'd like to have seen them use an alternative tint for the pattern sections ... a dark color perhaps, but something to add boldness to it.

I feel the same way. For the podium, I'm still not a fan by any measure, but I feel like it is better executed in person than in photos.

My main office is down there, so I spend a regular amount of time in FCP. In its current incarnation, it is something to be appreciated if you walk through it once or twice, or only consider it from a designer's perspective. But. It is not a place you want to spend any time in. It's not...

Better than expected - and better than the renders too imo. The renders were ok, but looked like anything else. The actual execution is much bolder. Nice surprise.

The exterior update to FCP was nice, but the interior needs to be modernized by softening it somehow. The old marble on marble on marble feel/look is very cold and sterile. Most new buildings incorporate wood and other softer materials that give them a warmer and more inviting vibe. Not sure...

I'm not saying I'm a fan ... but I'll say this as a positive about the towers, at least they are thin. Compared to the two towers attached to Loblaws to the west, which are big giant cube globs ... these feel like they will be less offensive once the area has filled in. Still cheap. Still not...

I decided to google some of his projects ... holy .. cow ... he has some truly gaudy creations. At the same time, it 'appears' like he gets some fairly prominent work. How is that? Does his stuff have appeal to a certain segment? Is he connected? I mean some of the stuff I saw on google was...

Damn that is absolutely stunning. GJ to the builders.

    Toronto Aquavista at Bayside | 46.94m | 13s | Tridel | Arquitectonica

It actually looks much better in person. Not that it'll win any innovation awards, but it's a nice waterfront building when you see it close up.

Interesting ... To me it's always been downtown form the Lake to Bloor ... mid-town has been Yonge & Eg ... and uptown has always been Yonge & Sheppard.

I think the city needs more buildings with smaller windows. Not only does it help diversify the look of the various buildings, but not every condo dweller wants giant windows. Perhaps most do, but certainly not all.

Agreed. There was a lot of concern about this area, but it's coming together.

I just got back from a trip through Oslo - Stockholm - and Copenhagen. It's really depressing to drive past this mess on our waterfront after seeing how other cities handle architecture. Why we allow this to happen to our city is beyond me.
