Again, it's not the use of colour that's an issue. It's the bizarre combination of pink and brown, combined with the cheap materials. A pink stripe up a building would probably look pretty good if the rest of the building was quality glass or precast in white or some other contrasting colour.

It's a bit presumptuous to say other cities "don't get" how to build cities and that Toronto has it all figured out. Especially when they have several times the population and arguably outclass Toronto in many other areas. Rather, each city has its own approach to development due to a multitude...

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Christie also has it's gates removed at the moment.

Looks like there's a mix of glass balconies and metal railings I guess? Seems odd to have both on one building.

I don't think he's saying balconies are required by law. Nor that all regulations should be cast aside. The building separation guidelines do seem odd to me as well, however I imagine as space downtown becomes more limited this regulation will fall out of favour.

Original Island Airport Terminal 1 (restore & repurpose)

The other 80% of the islands are park/residential. I like parks too, but a downtown airport is a valuable asset not many cities have.

I don't think anyone is harping on it for not being grey like everything else. Some warm tones would be welcome, they just aren't applied very well here. To be honest I like the massing and its presence in the square (except that overhang at the top), it's the materials that are lacking.

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

Maybe one day we will get a mayor who strikes a balance between uncompromising practicality and patronizing idiocy. Moderates rarely do well in popular votes, though.

    Dufferin Street: Eliminating the jog

I don't think there's room on the actual bridge, but it might be possible to expropriate the industrial site to the West, there's quite a bit of space available there between Brock and Dufferin.

Unfortunately they haven't even nailed down their new 'standards' yet. As far as I'm aware no surface signage was redone for the St George/Bloor pilot. There are still 3-4 different totem designs out there with wildly different information.

I can see white working in some instances. You're right though, black would be better for most buildings yet you pretty much only see grey. I wonder if there's some reason for that?

Yikes, even worse. I've only seen photos and it looks grey there.

Dark grey and salmon are just not colours that go together. They could work on different buildings but it's beyond me why they combined them here.

Scary? I don't see how. Aura is taller, is your issue the size of the floorplate? Personally I'm tired of towers that take up entire blocks, they stink at street level.

I actually think it would be better without the curves. They don't flatter the overall shape, at least not with the frequency/depth they've chosen.

Opinion shouldn't enter into it at all. Transit should be built based on facts, taken from studies done by experts. Instead the studies are ignored and politicians build where and what is politically favorable for them.

Yeah, exactly. I guess there's no way to shut off the forced air system? It would be tolerable without it.

As Kyle noticed on the other signage, maybe those two squares on the left wall are for Uniqlo as well? It would be cool if it were one of their large, colourful displays. Would look great facing the square.

What? NYC has supertalls built on similar size lots.
