GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Perhaps I'm wrong, and there will be express Lakeshore East trains in August (or September). Time will tell - but I doubt there will be.

    VIA Rail

In tables called "Fixed Costs" or "Amortization of Capital Assets". That's just a table. I don't know what it represents in full, from the annual report.

    VIA Rail

It's impressive, however it should be noted that if this was a private business, it would include the cost of amortization (or perhaps leasing) of new rolling stock. What's that - $1 billion over 30 years (I'm guessing). On the other hand, that's only (very very roughly) $33 million or so a...

    Eglinton Mills 🤣

Stations perhaps (though the Ontario Line ones differ - but perhaps they aren't finalized). But less so for LRT stops.

We've got Sheppard to Don Mills now. Surely Line 3 will be Ontario Place to Ontario Science Centre! :)

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

With swords? I don't think there were 365 physical assaults on operators in (pick a year - 2019). What's an assault? Does it include pedestrians giving the driver a finger, when he turns right on red (enters the intersection), with a white walk symbol? Making sarcastic comments about far they...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

How many times do you think people are attacked with swords on the TTC? WTF is someone from Ajax going all the way to Toronto to do things like this? Someone needs introduce him to DRT.

That is slow. Presumably the 30 minutes or less is correct (which gives you typical urban subway speeds of 31 km/hr).

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

They are out of planning phase. We know they are going ahead, so presumably in procurement by others than IO. Ditto for the Hamilton LRT.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

The shift to 15-minute Lakeshore service on weekends would also drive a further increase since these stats came out.

    VIA Rail

It was posted a few years ago - but worth reposting, as many have not seen it. Fascinating and excellent work! There's a sequel that compared 1980 to 2024, that includes the USA. https://seanmarshall.ca/2024/01/30/changing-tracks-passenger-rail-in-1980-and-2024/...

    Ontario Northland/Northern Ontario Transportation

Only 36 parking spots. This is starting to get farcical, if that's the estimated parking demand. Instead of three $40-million trainsets, they could have purchased a half-dozen of these and offered more frequent service.

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

Well there is a knockout for the Bremner streetcar in the final Union Station plan. I thought the last report, is that it wasn't going to be there.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

I was always surprised at how much pedestrian traffic there was between Scarborough Centre station and Scarborough Town Centre, whenever one of those relatively small trains arrived. Though I never measured the passage width.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Yes - that's right on the east side of McCowan, pointing west. And seems a bit narrow in my mind. Though 6 metres doesn't sound narrow; but the ones that are part of the station seem to be 10 metres. Good to see the triple escalators in the design.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I don't see how they can be 18 months behind. I don't think the contract was even awarded that long ago! And in my opinion, the speed they've been moving with construction along the shared corridor is very impressive.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

I'll put my money on a Ford flip flop and that there will be a Science Centre open there - at least if Line 5 opens in the next few years.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

In part of midtown from about 14th Street to 42nd Street. Still doesn't feel particularly intuitive to me, even though I used to spend most of my time there around 26th Street - until Covid.
