    Rob Ford's Toronto

She really is entirely lacking in self-awareness. It's all 'kids were mean to me when I was a kid ... why don't adults respect me now that I'm an adult who still engages in name-calling and petty grudges?'

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

I get that there were more streetcars on King than usual because of the diversion, but at what point would it have occurred to the TTC to start rerouting them to Dundas via Shaw and Queen?

    Rob Ford's Toronto

The 'Hey, I'm the real victim here!' shtick is the Fords' SOP.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

It's hard to tell, since nothing has really happened since he was elected. Some people are no doubt happy that someone named Ford holds the Ward 2 seat, but his political outlook and tactics are probably different from his uncles', for which other people will be grateful.

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

Catenary subway cars are not (currently) part of TTC rolling stock, but even then, isn't there a safety issue involved in operating subway-type vehicles on sections shared with GO and Via and UP Express?

Is there any dressing/clothing style associated with Toronto in particular?

There's a lot of them around in the winter these past few years, but who knows how long that will last?

    Rob Ford's Toronto

The reaction to the video by his apologists and enablers has been (perhaps predictably) hypocritical and disingenuous. Warmington never really gave up on his theory that the video didn't exist or was fake, did he? And SAL created her own scenario in which she supposedly cared more about Ford...

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Good job trying to sound like a paragon of decency and honour there, 'dro.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Uh, whaat? People around him repeatedly asked if there was a problem, suggested he deal with whatever it was. He denied it over and over (which is not unusual) plus we had the likes of SAL squawking that people expressing concern were 'bullying' him.

    TTC: New Fare Gate Installation

Would it be helpful to indicate stations where Presto readers are installed but they're at a secondary entrance rather than the main one? For example, St George still has turnstiles and no readers at the main St George entrance, but it has the readers at the Bedford entrance.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Looks like it held up pretty well. What's the situation in terms of spare parts - does the TTC have an inventory or do they need to be ordered?

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

That's true. I don't know why I didn't think of that, since I bike Simcoe much more often than Hoskin.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

I seem to recall that the bollards stayed on Adelaide, Richmond and Simcoe this past winter. And now I've heard someone complain that the bollards the city uses are too pointy.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Am I imagining it or did we use to have angled parking in the middle of Spadina before the streetcars came back? Or was it just at the sides? There's floating parking on Hoskin right now - it doesn't feel weird to me, but then I haven't encountered many parkers coming and going along there.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

I was out on Bloor late on Tuesday night. The machine that strips the old markings was still going and they were doing a first pass for the new ones.

Despite what Ford says The Streetcar in Toronto is here to stay.

I'm pretty sure the intent of the 'within 1 m of the curb' rule is not for cyclists to be between the curb and right-turning cars. The right-of-way that a cyclist has over a right-turning car at an intersection is subject to the order in which both arrive at the intersection. It doesn't mean go...

    Rob Ford's Toronto

It's funny in part because they're freely borrowing a concept from a philosophy they'd otherwise disparage. And also pretty much getting the concept completely wrong. Karma is not about 'what comes around goes around' or 'getting what's coming to you'.

General cycling issues (Is Toronto bike friendly?)

As someone else said, the only people who really wear helmets in the NL are road bike riders, who are generally found on the road. There's never been a real reason to wear helmets there because cyclists have to mix with drivers much, much less than here and when they do, it's with drivers who...

Despite what Ford says The Streetcar in Toronto is here to stay.

They also don't seem to realize that when cyclists have a green light, they will go through that green light. And if you walk across the cycle track, especially without looking, you will get hit.

Strobel is basically an Internet comment board troll given his own column.
