I think most people were expecting H&M Home to be more like a downtown IKEA, and less like a couple of pineapple knicknacks. Let's all just cross our fingers for what we really want - Swedish Meatballs.

H&M is blinding. God damn you H&M.

    A giant tower.

That street level view is brutal. Hopefully they can introduce more variation along the streetwall, and a bit more colour. I had expected something more along the lines of habitat in terms of units jutting in and out - the harsh verticality doesn't work in my books.

    Simons

I doubt Indigo would give up their space at the manulife centre - I think it's one of their flagships, as sad as that may seem. I could see Simons moving in on the old globe and mail lands - it would give the development something to differentiate it from the Eaton Centre.

    Toronto Picasso Condos | 128.62m | 39s | Mattamy Homes | Teeple Architects

On second thought - those windows in plan are probably really deceptive to potential homeowners. You might think you're getting an entire wall of glass, and end up with a tiny slit.

The lower walls are a party wall - it's designed to eventually be covered over. I'm not sure why they bothered with those tiny slit windows - seems like a needless expense.

A building full of men is actually a dream of mine. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Toronto Adagio | 85m | 26s | Menkes | Giannone Petricone

The entire lot is something like 30m wide according to google maps. With no chance of meeting the tower separation guidelines, I'm guessing we'll see a giant party wall going up. The folks in the Bay tower will be none too pleased.

There's a window in the atrium space that looks between the outside hoarding and the exterior face of the 'apple' store. Last I checked it didn't look particularly apple-y underneath.

If there was a cheap and nice stone product out there, we would see it around Toronto. But, no such product exists. Though, feel free to prove me wrong.

    Toronto Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners

I wouldn't take Gehry's remarks too seriously - the article makes it clear it's about politics. Many American's threaten to move to Canada when a politician they disagree with is voted into power. The office itself would never move, the firm is more than just one man, Gehry himself is one of...

The brackets are for the Nordstrom sign.

Saks Fifth Avenue Flagship (Queen & Yonge)

I also think it's dubious to say Sak's revitalised the old building. To me, it feels like they completely ignored it's existence. Once your inside you have no idea if your in Toronto or Scarborough.

    Toronto Adagio | 85m | 26s | Menkes | Giannone Petricone

I can't imagine how they'll fit anything on this site. The 25m tower separation distance seems like it would kill the development potential of this site.

Totally agree with you. I saw a number of people today who were confused as to how to actually get in the store today. It seems really foolish considering how that portion of Yonge is beginning to regenerate with the addition of Dineen Coffee and Bay Adelaide 2.

Saks Fifth Avenue Flagship (Queen & Yonge)

After visiting I can't help but think it would have made more sense for Saks to occupy the West half of the store. Hudson's Bay really took advantage of the windows, atrium, and entrances of the East side of the store - while Saks has essentially blocked all of it off. It's absurd. The...

    Toronto Eaton Centre (Ongoing Renewal) | ?m | ?s | Cadillac Fairview | Zeidler

I was a bit disappointed after visiting Saks. They've really ruined what was a pretty open space when it was Hudson's Bay. Pretty much all of the windows on the first floor have been blocked off - it feels cramped and dark compared to the previous iteration. The entry off the Eaton Centre bridge...

    Toronto KING Toronto | 57.6m | 16s | Westbank | Bjarke Ingels Group

I'm hoping against stone - it's one of the most expensive cladding materials. It'd be nice if these units ended up being affordable for the common man.

    Toronto KING Toronto | 57.6m | 16s | Westbank | Bjarke Ingels Group

It'll probably end up being a concrete cladding panel, something like FibreC that's clean and simple to install. I think this building is great in concept - though it'll be interesting to see how well these units sell with such limited views. I'm also really curious about how the cores work -...
