Is Toronto more similar to (and more linked to) Montreal or Vancouver?

As a former Montrealer, I'm gonna have to disagree with you there. The core isn't handsome, Old Montreal is, and Old Montreal is for tourists. I never knew anyone that lived or worked down there. We stayed north of the Ville Marie highway. Everyone is going to have a different mental picture...

    Toronto 109OZ Condos | 20.12m | 6s | Reserve Properties | RAW Design

I think this may be the fastest build I've ever seen in Toronto.

    Toronto No7 Rosedale | 16.76m | 4s | Platinum Vista | Hariri Pontarini

It's particularly amusing since the vast majority of those homes have been altered beyond historical recognition. This sort of intensification will only make their lots more valuable... I guess they don't need the money though :p

    Toronto East Harbour | 214.2m | 65s | Cadillac Fairview | Adamson

I'd like to see the northern and eastern edges be more integrated with the surrounding city, and try to connect with/reconstruct the street grid. Without that, like someone mentioned above, it feels very... 1950's, and not in a good way.

    Toronto East Harbour | 214.2m | 65s | Cadillac Fairview | Adamson

These are designated employment lands, it's probably a non-starter. The area across Lake Shore is envisioned as the high density, mixed use neighbourhood that would house those employed at East Harbour.

    2018 Ontario Provincial Election Discussion

You miss my point. The poll showed that the Liberals would potentially have another majority if they changed leaders. Same platform. Same Hydro situation. Wynne hasn't done that much in office other than an infrastructure drive and the Sex Ed curriculum. The Hydro mess started way before her...

    2018 Ontario Provincial Election Discussion

Further proof that much of the opposition to her leadership is due to her identity (female/gay/from Toronto), rather than her politics. The ball on Hydro rates started rolling long before she was Premier. I like her, and I'd be disappointed if she steps down. But hey, as long as it keeps a...

    Toronto The Selby | 165.5m | 50s | Tricon | bKL Architecture

Well, it's a purpose built rental, so there's no pressure to appeal to investors who require a balcony/don't care if the building is 50 shades of grey.

730 St Clarens Avenue restoration (Akelius Properties, 23s, ArchDesign)

I can't help but think some public art on the south facing wall would do wonders for the neighbourhood. Similar to the new mural on St. Clair?

    Toronto 355 Coxwell | 22.67m | 6s | Habitat for Humanity | RAW Design

Awesome! This is the kind of density we need across the city. And a co-op too!

    Toronto 2 Carlton | 251.1m | 73s | Northam | IBI Group

I love thoughtful brutalist architecture, as well as 1950's modern. 2 Carleton, however, looks like someone stacked a motel on top of an elevated parking garage. It would be right at home in a Southern California suburb. Sad to see the current uses go, but.... knock this pile down, please.

    Toronto Yonge and Scollard | 167.5m | 49s | Cityzen | KPMB

This proposal was hubris. There is a height peak descending from Yonge and Bloor, and this is significantly taller than 1 Yorkville. They proposed removing a First Nations commemorative plaque from the park without any sort of replacement, or acknowledgment in their new design for the park. I...

    Toronto Grange Park | ?m | ?s

It's definitely not a deal breaker, but with a minimal amount of thought, care, and investment, it would be very easy to have something so much better. Let's take some pride in our city. We're worth it :D

    Toronto Grange Park | ?m | ?s

Along with these hideous park signs! The city could literally hire any first year OCAD student and get a more attractive and legible design. That "City within a park" font.... dear god.... what were they thinking?!

    Toronto Velocity at the Square | 122.52m | 40s | HNR | P + S / IBI

Do our developers have so little pride in this city that they won't even pick attractive colours for their spandrel monsters? Another reason to avoid Dundas Square :(

This is a rare example of an improvement through recladding. Two thumbs up.

    Toronto Time and Space Condos | 101.8m | 29s | Pemberton | Wallman Architects

Agreed, however meaningful architectural flourish is pretty much a non-starter in the Toronto market, and the previous site plan had a step-down to an appropriate 10 stories on the Esplanade. The developers are going to go as high as they can, no matter what. Better to have two slimmer towers...

    Toronto Time and Space Condos | 101.8m | 29s | Pemberton | Wallman Architects

I don't think we're going to get anything close to the surrounding structures, the tallest of which is 12 storeys. It tops off at 33 now, with the elimination of the POPS, we'd get a reduction of 5 storeys, max. They still need to break even after paying way too much for this site. I don't think...
