What are Toronto's most notable teardown/monster home areas?

I think the number of teardowns in the 905 would surprise many 416ers. The pre-70s areas of Thornhill, Unionville and Markham are seeing rebuilds (and in the case of heritage homes, major additions) all over the place. These infill McMansions are a huge reason why the price gap between detached...

    Downtown Markham

The original press release didn't mention IMAX, but maybe they reconsidered? I thought it was odd that they would go to the trouble of building a new location without IMAX, so I'm glad it's going to be there at any rate. Can't wait for this to open!

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Also, don't forget the early evening express buses. I travel to Markham Station, so many of my bus trips are express to my stop, so it's sometimes as fast as 25 minutes versus 50 on the train. It's also sometimes 90 minutes when the bus is in traffic -- and the crowding concerns, and the lower...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

As someone else who uses this line everyday, I think this is great news of course... ...BUT this scares me a lot. Aside from Unionville itself, the busiest stations are all to the north (except Lincolnville): http://www.gotransit.com/public/en/improve/Stouffville_Rail_Expansion_PIC_1_EN.pdf...

    Planned Sprawl in the GTA

Really? I've always found Ajax to be one of the least dense parts of the GTA. Plus, what are people walking to? There seems to be very little in terms of retail or restaurants. Nothing in Durham seems to be as dense as Southern York.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

One of the Stouffville CSAs has been having a great time with this: "You can all spread your legs now; all seven have gotten off." Granted this is a rough week to start a pilot, but I hope we move away from the idea of trying to run local and commuter rail on the same line, especially with the...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Why not connect to both? If you live in East Markham, South of the 407, it would still be faster to get to McCowan/Markham and Sheppard than GO, especially when you would only have to wait 3 minutes instead of 15. If nothing else, the routes contracted to the TTC for Kennedy, McCowan and Markham...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

SRT2/M2 landing on the edge of Malvern would be great, but who knows what that would cost? Whatever the chosen terminus, there needs to be land for a fairly substantial bus terminal. In addition to the eastern TTC bus routes, I could see several YRT routes connecting here.

    Toronto The One | 328.4m | 91s | Mizrahi Developments | Foster + Partners

If true, this is extremely disappointing.
