    Shabby Toronto

I don't get Toronto hydro sometimes, if it's damaged enough to need to be taped, maybe fix it?

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

I know these views all come from different people but I feel like there's 2 schools of thought? One group of people think bikes will mostly be used for shorter trips that are too long to walk, and I think the cycling network is big enough for that since by definition that implies people would...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

I still have to sift through the rest of the data. The issue for me is "build and they will come" hasn't materialized. It doesn't seem worthwhile to add 10 people an hour, especially considering this is a main transport corridor

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

I'm sifting through the footage I've completed the 6am-1pm time frame, so far The numbers are the totals for each category, with the percentages below. Looking for feedback before I sift through the rest. I'll create some graphs when finished. *edit added location* This was just east of The...

    Streetcar Tracks on Adelaide

Random but it's crazy to see how long some of the streetcar tracks have been in the road despite being abandoned in the 50's or 60's https://www.google.com/maps/@43.6869401,-79.311345,3a,75y,266.95h,73.32t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sMv_7kF5ECGgiLMccveBTIg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?coh=205409&entry=ttu

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

I've done my first day of the traffic study, I'm reviewing the hourly numbers. This is taking SIGNIFICANTLY more effort than I was expecting, so hopefully it will lead to meaningful discussion. Before I finish spending 20+ hours reviewing and tallying the numbers, does anyone have any concerns...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

You realize you've been quite rude to me and personally attacked me?

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Again, nobody has given me an actual ratio, timeline, or guidelines or even a single hard number to justify anything. Anyways until some new numbers come out this is a pointless back and forth. I encourage you to actually ask a real person who drives why they choose so. I'm sorry you choose to...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Except the harm is you're slowing down the other 96% of road users at a time where the Gardiner AND 401 are under construction, 3+ ramps are closed, and the TTC has a habit of weekly rush hour shutdowns. Also it's annoying NOBODY can give me a rough timeline and volume of what justifies taking...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

By that logic we should mandate everyone who can works from home 100% and lower the speed limits to 30 nationwide!

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Fair point about the city blocking things. Fairview isn't amazing but it does have the 3 keys (somewhere to go/shop, somewhere to work, and FREQUENT transit!) I get crap here for supporting cars (gasp) but I'm ok with GO charging for parking, it just seems that you need A LOT of agencies to...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

The 4% of cyclists are pretty meaningless imo!

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Yes but the averages are useless since everyone’s situation is so unique

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

After 8 years I had to do struts and did control arms and tie rods, anything I can’t do (the aforementioned work) I buy parts on rock auto and pay a mechanic about 80 an hour to put them in. It’s like how phones are $1500 now but you can easily buy last years model for 500 if you wait!

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

We’re starting to go down a rabbit hole here, I’ll post my study results in a few days/weeks. I’m really curious has more demand materialized and what’s the traffic volume for cars. I don’t think I can track the l length of trips though unless anyone has suggestions

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Oh no, I’m willing to follow YouTube instructions! Where is the rest of the 10k? Gas and insurance are maybe 2k a year? Having a car means I don’t have to Uber, I got a better job, more time in my day. That’s the thing about these “surveys” they’re basically useless as everyone’s situations...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Whenever I think of housing by the go the failure that is “mixed use” Burlington with only a Walmart next door comes to mind

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

I pay $129 a year for unlimited tire repairs and seasonal change over, my oil change cost me $25 2x a year and tires were $300 for 5 years. My ac broke and it cost me $120 to do it on my own including paying a mechanic to recharge the system. If I said every bike rider pays $5000 for an e-bike...

This is one really cool example of knock on effects!
