This is not surprising for me. There was an RFP a couple years ago seeking redevelopment ideas for the site. If I recall correctly, the recommended design was a 3 tower on podium design of some sort (I could be mistaken).

The "word on the street" is that the parking lot to the south is being planned, and initial plans are looking like a 5 storey podium with 2 20+ storey towers above.

This is a pretty important decision. It states that for purposes of employment lands conversion under Places to Grow, there are 2 levels of protection. To be prevented from conversion, employment designated lands must also be in an designated employment district (at least in Toronto).

I'd put money on George Street between Dundas and Gerrard as a location if this goes forward.

Can you say "hail mary" attempt? I would love to read how they believe the OMB exceeded its jurisdiction on this matter. On its face, it sounds positively ludicrous. As for costs, I can't recall an example of where costs were awarded to a party who were deemed to not have fulfilled its own...

I'm assuming this was near their 279 Yonge Street location, but I haven't found corroborating photographic evidence of that yet. :-)

If I remember correctly, this is where 5 pin bowling was invented. (was a bowling alley way back when)
