If the tower's floor plates are the same size (more or less) as the podium, is there actually a podium? I'd say no. That seems to be the case here. Floor plates too big, insufficient separation distances from the adjacent towers. I'd send it back to the drawing board.

Wasn't this design the result of some kind of design competition and OMB settlement? Not sure what either the chief planner or the planning department have to do with it.

In the Star today (a bit late) http://www.thestar.com/yourtoronto/education/2014/11/14/tdsb_takes_1m_to_back_away_from_opposing_developers_tower_plan.html "TDSB takes $1M to back away from opposing developer's tower plan The highrise next to Lord Lansdowne Public School will shade the...

UoT hasn't guaranteed residence space either (and isn't doing so until 2015).

Bit of a mixed bag to me. The podium is too tall for the context, and the various blocks seem disjointed. The height is fine. I'm curious though as to how many residence spaces they need... between this project, 365 Church, the residence on Jarvis, and the one proposed at the NW corner of...

    16 storey podium? um... no.

    Toronto Ryerson Student Learning Centre | 50.59m | 8s | Ryerson University | Zeidler

Are you sure? It doesn't look like there is any retail from the renderings.

Wooden hoarding is up. Hopefully it won't be long now.

    Toronto 50 Bloor Street West | 230.11m | 70s | Morguard Corporation | Pellow + Associates

-Height is great. -Reserving judgement on the street/pedestrian interface until more details are given, but this is where most of the attention should be directed. -Too many parking spaces

    Toronto Time and Space Condos | 101.8m | 29s | Pemberton | Wallman Architects

13 storeys isn't a podium. It is a "tall building" in its own right. 100% not appropriate for this location (or most of the city).

    Vaughan Leviathan at Canada's Wonderland | 93.26m | ?s | Cedar Fair

I can't believe how much bigger it is vs. Dragon Fyre (which I was terrified of as a kid)

The sketches posted are now moot. The project has been completely redesigned. The renderings presented at the open house tonight are a nice improvement. It is marginally lower than originally proposed, and the podium is down from 10 to 6 (with step downs to the north). The student residence...
