    Toronto Lower Simcoe Ramp | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto

Implied sarcasm. But really it is probably a good idea to keep flow moving and prevent tailbacks into the intersection and gridlocking on Simcoe. To me it seems like commuters in the GTA cannot merge at speed. People here drive with too much of a mentality to fight and jockey for position. Hell...

They really need to stop identifying the West Wing as on the same floor as the GO York Concourse on the official maps. This is really confusing and not at all how the station is laid out. There are effectively three levels to the new Union. G - GROUND LEVEL - North Entrance via Front St at...

    Toronto Lower Simcoe Ramp | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto

Good point. I hadn't caught that bit. Removing that merge is a good idea since Toronto drivers cannot merge.

Thanks for the link. I think you are correct that one of the ramp lanes will be right turn only. I wonder what prompted this change in design. Also, it doesn't look like that laneway/side-street is going in on the east side of the park up against RBC Waterfront.

I just want to point out that the now removed exit ramp was never supported by that awkwardly located column. This column was (and likely must remain?) in this location to allow Lake Shore/Harbour to diverge out from underneath the Gardiner.

Wasn't there supposed to be a "jog around the column" for the third (northmost) lane coming off the ramp to continue onto Harbour? Anybody have a link to a schematic of the lane layout as built?

Oh and also... while I am in a ranting kind of mood: What is going on in the VIA departures area. Jesus christ. If you look at Katia Osokine's picture below you'll see that currently travelers to Toronto Union have been getting the full "eastern-bloc" treatment. Only in Toronto is this an...

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

I've heard that the lower level of the York concourse has been delayed on account of water penetration and persistent leaks. It seems like they are having trouble with the expansion joints in the trackbed slab... To be honest instead of taking remedial action and doing waterproofing work, it...

Looks like this will be happening shortly. Pax will be routed entirely into leather shop bypass for the remainder of the Bay concourse to be demoed. Temporary stairs are located outside in the moat and at grade access to the new lower Bay concourse via new sets of doors is complete. I assume...

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

Mark my words this is happening. Scaffolding is being moved into this area just east of the leather-shop-bypass and under the former Purdy's. The moat is excavated and the at-grade doorways from Union to the TTC have already been cut out of the foundation wall. The area under the former Purdy's...

@MafaldaBoy Wow thank you for drawing that comparison! The similarities are just remarkable! Calatrava wasn't involved in the original designs here in Toronto was he!?

In regard to leasing & real estate at Union: "Apparently quite a few tenants confirmed, both national and independent. Problem is asking rent is very high. Will likely be a great tenant mix (CRE firm Beauleigh does great work) but 1st gen retail may not be profitable. Commuter flow alone may...

Interesting info. That yellow pipe next to the roach is cast iron sewer pipe... (likely 6" diameter). EDIT: @mdrejhon 200th! <<<<<<<<<

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

I am not sure yet... it certainly appears that way on the earlier plans... And then again on the Osmington retail drawings (albeit now on the West side of the corridor). ] EDIT: On further examination unfortunately I believe I was mistaken. Of the two elevators beside one another I think the...

You have it. Exactly. The new lower-concourse "mall" within Union will be at grade with the TTC concourse, which is at grade with the RBC plaza concourse, which is at grade (or fully AODA accessible) to a significant amount of the PATH network. EDIT. I was not aware of the ramps mentioned per...
