It's a pleasant surprise to see the tower is set back from Jarvis, protecting north and south views for residents of both the X Condo and the new building. Thinking caps on! What other ground floor retail development has the same area as the one proposed? (i.e., 1037 square metres). That's...

There was an open house today on the 32nd floor (or was it the 33rd?) Oh well. A 2000 square foot unit, with spectacular views to the north, west, and southwest. Glass on all exterior walls. It's alarming to walk out onto a non-recesed balcony at that height with just a waist high railing. The...

I recall reading somewhere that there are 3 supersized cranes in the world, built in Japan I think, which spend their time in transit or at construction sites dismantling cranes. Big bucks. Book early and hope hope hope you are ready when it arrives. :) "The crane is called the Platform...

Most puzzling. The selection was better before they renovated the store a year or two ago. They're frequently out of whole wheat bread, which kind of grates on me. Why is it so difficult to keep staples in stock? Come on! The Food Basics on Wellesley, just around the corner, has a better...

Big Dig! A big shovel moved in on the Jarvis Street side today, to load dump trucks on the street (they won't have to drive into the pit anymore).

Grocery store (?!) Great Gulf plan a grocery store on the ground floor. I wonder if they have already made a deal with a company. This allegedly makes up for ValuMart's departure from Greenwin Square. Nothing official yet.

It's curious that they don't advertise its proximity to the distillery district, which is a LOT closer. I like the looks of the building and it will be a nice location in a few years once Don River Park opens and Cherry Street gets going.

Construction update - March 13, 2008 Lots of action today. At one point, I counted 14 workers, not including truck drivers queued up to remove clay to the dump.

Verve Condos (Tridel) - Real Estate -

A sales rep at the Tridel sales office on Carlton said that people would be moving in July. Initial occupancy was originally December, 2008. Looks like Tridel is 5 months ahead of schedule (or perhaps just was conservative). It is impressive that the building has gone up so quickly!
