I like the green colour. However, the building overpowers its site. It looks out of place, next its neighbours.

Verve Condos (Tridel) - Real Estate -

Earsore Verve looks sharp. Turned out well. ...but what a racket at street-level on Wellesley! Tridel put an exhaust fan in arguably the worst location. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? It's a shame. It cheapens the building.

From what I can see, unless people already live in the neighbourhood, they don't seem to be familiar with the goings on. They buy on marketing, geographical location, look of the building, etc. I wonder how many people buying into the CASA or BSN projects are aware of the periodic noise from...

General cycling issues (Is Toronto bike friendly?)

One can only hope that eventually there is an understanding that such lanes can actually contribute to congestion, not alleviate it. Allegedly, the first bike lanes in Toronto, on Poplar Plains Road, were put in to control speeding, not to facilitate cycling. Not much has changed. Cyclists are...

1 Bloor East, DEAD AND BURIED (Bazis, -2s, Varacalli)

Bloor Street has never been more pedestrian-friendly. It actually was quite pleasant crossing from St. Andrew's Church to Park Road this morning, with traffic crawling in single lanes. :)

    Yonge-Dundas Pedestrian Scramble Implementation

"Pedestrians in Toronto are No. 1, not car drivers," Rae said. "Pedestrians come first." (Toronto Star, 29 Aug. 2008, page A6) Really? Then explain why there is no crosswalk on the east side of Bloor at Parliament, forcing pedestrians to detour around the intersection. Here's my...

Suggestion for a "construction techniques" forum I wonder how thick floors (and walls) typically are. Imagine hearing an upstairs neighbour scrape their chairs every time they eat! What does the building code require? Obviously, a subfloor is key (e.g., plank, hardwood, engineered hardwood). A...
