The thing is most those houses are just country homes that will mostly sell anyway when development comes. This looks a lot less significant than Meadowale Village.

That would be unwieldy as Unionville is more the geographic core of Markham than Markham Village itself. And Thornhill east of Yonge isn't really seen as Markham either.

The Stevenson stop is pointless as its so close to both Albion and Kipling.

Ironically, the corridor through there was the first non-historic area to see mass urbanization (as it likely would be expected to due to its central location). but that is what led to the situation we see today, as there was nowhere else to run the later Parkway Belt through except along Hwy. 7...

I think the only heritage feature of this "farmhouse" is that it lasted so long close to downtown in a city of 600,000 people.

That's the perception you get when "highway" is a street's name and/or historical identity...

Not to mention, its a low-capacity two-lane road, with ditches in spots. Hardly LRT territory.

This area likely wasn't expected to get as busy as it has. And being in a township, they didn't do things the way cities did. Look at all the sidestreet crossings through Lakeview for instance.
