    1233 Queen East | ?m | 8s

I believe the gap is more pronounced outside of rush hour. During rush hour there are a high volume of trains and people, so it might no be as apparent with the busyness. As for the wait, i admit fifteen seconds is a bit exaggerated but i think its close enough to the delay of opening and...

    1233 Queen East | ?m | 8s

I find the new subway cars take a lot more time to open their doors. Once the train arrives at the station and stops, there is a wait of about 15 seconds for the doors to open. This may not be much, but it does add up and slow the progress of the train over the whole line. I find now that when...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

So what is the issue with having underground LRT where it is required, such as the older and narrower parts of the street, and then above ground ROW? I believe a lot of the initial designs for Jane and Don Mills LRT considered putting narrow parts below ground and put those forward as an option...

New look for the Victoria Park subway station (Brown and Storey)

Unfortunately, some people think these improvements are a waste of money since the stations work well enough already. With the way things are going in city hall, I don't think there will be any more station improvements for a long time. Already, the capital budget for the TTC is being...

I just hope these trains end up being more reliable than the T1s or the same. If they aren't, we will end up paying a lot more to maintain them and that will cause larger fare increases or reduced services to pay for the higher maintenance costs.

    Slower subway service?

This has been the norm for the last 2 years. Can't wait till the subways are automated and hopefully then we get a smoother ride, but unfortunately won't be any faster. It's a pitty that many LRT systems in the US operate at a faster speed than the TTC's subway system, would like to get a...

Toronto Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

You should try walking around the subway stations on the Sheppard Line, they are just as bad as Downsview and Wilson if not worse.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I am under the impression that no change would be made to the curve since the LRTs are capable of handling the current curve. Due to that reason I don't think upgrading Eglinton to subway will happen. It's probably better if we build another LRT line if Eglinton becomes too busy, I can see...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Steve Munro just got more info about the project. Here's an interesting tidbit about proposed frequencies for the line. Service level seems to about as good as a moderately used bus line for TTC standards.

    March 2011 TTC Service Cutbacks

Another thing to point out is that about half of the increases are done every summer. For example extending service to Ontario Place on the 29 Dufferin and the extending the 165 to Canada's Wonderland. These are only seasonal increases and will be cut once Fall arrives and fewer people travel...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

One other thing to consider is if they decided to upgrade the whole line to run current subway cars, the stations would probably have to be redesigned into the large station structures we have now being built on the Vaughan extension. This is to satisfy emergency evacuation requirements if two...

    Eglinton-Crosstown Corridor Debate

You are right, almost everyone would prefer subways over the LRT. The problem is cost and if we do actually go from LRT to subway for Eglinton we will see the costs soar. Even if we just consider the places where its being tunneled the stations will be more expensive to build than what is...

    Eglinton-Crosstown Corridor Debate

What two precious lanes are you talking about? Right now Eglinton is a 4 lane road, after the LRT is built it will still have 4 lanes for car traffic. Only things that will be gone are the special left and right turn lanes at intersections.
