@Northern Light - we have seen worse.

Maybe City can "buy" more years at SPA with some OPEN DOORS waivers..? They're worth more now that DCs are increasing.

Seeing that LAST render --- just makes me angry all over again about the "new" 2-Storey Police Station they are rebuilding across the street... 😡

The police are consistent in their zero-tolerance for any over-build of their stations.

They fought tooth and nail against the idea at the Danforth Garage site on Danforth.

Yeah, the police should NOT have ben allowed on the Danforth Garage site at Coxwell to begin with. They should have been at the old EAST YORK Civic Centre grounds... but we lost that battle too.

The real question at BIRCHMOUNT & EGLINTON was - "should the City even re-build the TPS station on this high-value site..?"

Councillors are incredibly squeamish about asking any baseline questions of the TPS.

Our concern now is that they don't do anything with their TPS site on the Danforth Garage site Police Station designs that LIMITS the height and density of the surrounding buildings under the HOUSING NOW program, because we've seen some crazy things happen around stuff like that.

Came across this and don’t remember seeing it anywhere on here. Opened in early 2023. This will be great for the community! And there seem to be a number of film studios in the area so hopefully this can help the local film/media ecosystem.

It seems like construction on Blocks 2 and 3 has started in earnest. The parking lot that used to be there has been fully ripped out and fenced in, there are around a dozen workers on the site and lots of heavy machinery digging. Confusingly though, the construction sign out front on Eglinton says that the work being done is "to reduce the number of parking spaces."

There are no 'new build' permits applied for here, let alone issued. Its unlikely the work you are seeing is related to constructing what's proposed here, at least directly.

There are permits for repairs to parking and for utility relocates in order to ready a portion of the site to be a public park.

Are they going to be tearing these buildings down? Last thread I asked that in someone reacted with a laughing emoji, just trying to understand these developments a bit more. I know it's frowned upon to ask about the status of a project, lol.

All the details of what will happen are present in this thread.

While I and many others are happy to answer questions.......and in a 40 or 140 page thread, I get how someone might not be able to find the original information..............this one is only 4 pages. Maybe scroll back a bit.

It is.........many of us here compete to be the first with news on a project........if you don't see any, there usually isn't any. Now and again something gets missed............but not that often.

Shoot, I wasn't aware that it was a competition. Hey, maybe I'll start posting some updates I see to get my reputation up a bit more. I'm still learning all these things though, appealing to the OLT, refusal notice, whatever you want to say, but it's something I want to understand in the future, lol. Trying to stay informed especially with how many condos are planned to go up.

How Toronto’s condo crash derailed the 75-tower plan for Scarborough’s Golden Mile

Excerpt (paywall):

Cooper said the financial predicament for each Golden Mile site owner was unique, with some better equipped to wait out the current development climate if, for example, they have stores or offices on future development sites that are providing interim income.
“But most of these sites are probably going to have a land loan or other financing on them and that costs money,” Cooper said. “Developers are in the business of building. It’s not as if they want to sit idle, and I think that applies to the Golden Mile as well as pretty much every other site in the city.”
