Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I saw this posted on FB, regarding the closure of Beth Nealson Drive for 2 years. And with this closure, I'm now going to find it very difficult to justify going to Thornecliffe Park for any reason....this was my local route to the neighbourhood.
I'm shocked they need to close this for two years, and feel for those who live and work close by, as there's only so many roads in and out of Thorncliffe Park, and that connect to Leaside.

Do I see it correctly that you have 42 TABS OPEN? That's even higher than my level 😲

I am a bit confused by this. I thought the Ontario Line is to be elevated here. If so, what's the need to create an underpass?

On a personal note, my favourite Greek restaurant/hangout - Tzatziki at 873 Pape at the corner of Aldwych - has closed and moved to a new location because of this. Thanks a lot Metrolinx! Lol.. Soon to follow, the adjacent Macchiato Cafe. Both had a lovely patio along Aldwych - to be replaced by a park from the looks of the renders.

Tzatziki is moving to Eglinton Avenue where businesses were completely decimated by the Crosstown. Theres some cosmic joke there.

The OL will actually be at-grade through here with Beth Nealson passing underneath it like a more traditional railroad.
That's what I thought they were planning to do from the beginning. It's better since having the tracks ramping up from the MSF would be tough logistically, especially because the tracks don't need to be high here, the brook here deepens as you get toward the river, so there just needs yp be a consistent support system as the subway line gets carried across the valley to Don Mills.

The other issue is the hydro corridor - the line has to drop in elevation in order to maintain adequate clearances from the lines in all conditions.

The crossing of Beth Nealson is not far away from where the line is crossing the corridor, so something had to give.

The new Broadview Ave bridge (apart of East Harbour station) is being installed this week. It appears to be precast pieces of concrete are being mounted into place. I'm sure one of our excellent photographers will catch it on their next update. Similar to the other spans in the corridor, there is a distinction between the section for the Ontario Line and GO tracks -- it doesn't appear to be one large single bridge.

The rebar for the Eastern Ave bridge appears to be nearly complete, so I expect a pour to complete that span imminently.

kinda funny because half the construction over the dvp is done. maybe hes talking about the don valley crossing.

also this:

“I have real confidence, from a civil infrastructure perspective, that we’re trending to finish civil construction of the Ontario Line along the 2030 timeline, then it’s about testing and commissioning,” Lindsay said.
2030 timeline?
its funny because hes stating they have no idea when it could be finished, but until they get commissioning started then they will know

Sounds reasonable and transparent to me, a stark contrast to the usual.

Other good quotes:
When pressed about whether Metrolinx was afraid to provide a date that it could be held accountable against, Lindsay pushed back.

“I don’t think it’s from a place of fear. I think it is about expectations.”
The Metrolinx head said offering the public constant updates on the line will help ease the tension over the opening date.
Reasonable answer, better not to put a firm date than to disappoint if they don’t live up to it. Communicate often and share distinctly what is known and unknown.

Lindsay pointed to Pape Station, which he called the “hinge of the Ontario Line,” as a primary example of construction work that could delay the opening.
Great to see him address the weakest link publicly. I tried to hint at this here before, but nobody wanted to hear it!

Might add some more after I watch the video interview.

What does he mean by Pape station being the "hinge of the Ontario Line"?
