President Donald Trump's United States of America

I honestly think Europeans really need to start discussing a security alliance that doesn't have an American general as Supreme Allied Commander. It would suck for us. But it makes sense for them.

According to Politico, those conversations are being had:

With NATO thrown into question, some officials see the “coalition of the willing” as the basis for a new alliance without the U.S.
European states, including those not in the EU like Britain and Norway, have spent much of Trump’s second term working in an increasingly effective group that already operates without America: the so-called coalition of the willing to support Ukraine. National security advisers from 35 governments are in regular contact, meeting frequently online and in person, as well as interacting via less formal text messaging. They are accustomed to seeking multilateral solutions in a world where Trump is a big part of the problem.
This format could potentially become the seedbed for a new security alliance in an era when the U.S. no longer supports NATO and European security.
Also in the text chats with the Washington Group leaders is Zelenskyy himself, which brings another intriguing idea into the mix. Ukraine is by far the most militarized country among those represented, with a huge army, a highly sophisticated drone production industry, and more expertise in the realities of fighting a war than anyone.
If Ukraine’s military might were to be included, when added to that of France, Germany, Poland and the U.K., among others, the potential armed power of the coalition of the willing would be vast, and would include both nuclear and non-nuclear states.

Not sure if this report is based in facts or wishful thinking. I'm having hard time imagining that the same politicians that showed such "firm resolve" when standing up to Russia would all of a sudden grow a spine and start standing up to both Russia and the US at the same time by making a EU-UK-Ukraine military alliance.

I genuinely love many things about the United States—it’s one of my favourite places, at least in normal times. But I’ve never felt a strong pull to live there unless I were extremely wealthy. And even then, I suspect I’d choose London over New York.
I would choose Copenhagen...even more now that it irritates Trump.

...if not checking "D" but don't want to vote for the current "R" either would also likely favour the Democrats.

But I agree, how people will vote in the end and who will turn up to vote is speculation at this point. And I am not claiming otherwise outside of what we know.
I also didn’t intend to sound overly negative. My point is simply that expectations probably need to be tempered in some quarters. The Democrats are in a very strong position heading into November, and likely beyond—but that, of course, assumes free and fair elections.

FIFA Issue Statement on Stripping Donald Trump of Peace Award After Threats

From https://www.sportbible.com/football/football-news/fifa-donald-trump-peace-award-world-cup-statement-777498-20260119
A FIFA spokesperson has issued a strong statement after calls for Donald Trump to be stripped of the 2025 FIFA Peace Prize, which the US President was awarded before the FIFA World Cup draw in December 2025.

Trump was presented with the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize before the draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on December 5.

The 79-year-old was given a golden trophy, medal, and certificate by FIFA president Gianni Infantino, who stood alongside Trump as he made a speech to the crowd in Washington D.C.

During his speech, the US President claimed that he had saved “tens of millions of lives” through interventions and that he had “stopped wars happening just before they started”.

FIFA has described the award as something that rewards “individuals who have taken exceptional and extraordinary actions for peace and by doing so have united people across the world”.

However, since receiving the medal, the Trump administration has been heavily criticised for taking military action in Venezuela.
On January 2, Trump announced that US forces had captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro along with his wife, Cilia Flores, after a covert operation.

Trump has also issued threats that the US will take military action against Iran, Mexico, Colombia, and Greenland.

The 79-year-old claims that the US “needs Greenland” for security purposes and has urged the Danish government, which rules the country, to hand the territory over to the US.

European allies have since pushed back against Trump before the US President announced plans to impose tariffs on the UK and the allies until a deal is struck for the US to take over Greenland.

UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer described the plans as “completely wrong”.
Meanwhile, in a statement to The Guardian, FIFA has doubled down on its stance to give Trump the peace prize despite the threats to take over Greenland and take military action in several other nations.

A spokesperson said: “FIFA strongly supports its annual peace prize, an award to recognise exceptional actions for peace and unity. Fifa notes the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize recipient [the Venezuelan opposition leader, María Corina Machado] has given her medal to President Trump.

“FIFA has strong relations with President Trump, along with leaders from fellow co-hosts Canada and Mexico. This has resulted in good working relationships leading to, for example, in the US, the formation of the White House Task Force for the FIFA World Cup.”

But the Guardian also reports that there is a growing sense of embarrassment among officials within FIFA about the awarding of the peace prize to Trump.

Sure 39% will could get you a majority in this country. Even 29% could give you a massive majority in the UK. But in the USA with only 2 parties that matter, the Presidency would be awarded to the Dems at a whopping 60% if an election was held today...

That's not how public opinion polling works. That's now what it means. If your approval rating is 40%, it does not mean 60% of people are intending to vote against you. Approval poll only takes one candidate into question, it's not a head-to-head poll against a hypothetical democrat. When you ask the same people who they will vote for in the next election, it is no longer a 60/40 split because a lot of people will never vote for the other side even though they do not approve of the current guy.

Let's look at Trump's first term as an example. He started his first term at 45% approval. You'd think (by your logic) that the guy who got nearly 50% of the popular vote would have 50% approval rating, but that's not how it works. His approval rating never went above water, quickly dipped to below 35%, recovered and stayed at around 40% for the rest of his first term, dipping back to to 35% at the very end:

Again, by your logic, Biden should have had 65% of the vote in 2020, yet that's not how it played out. He won in a tight nailbiter.

And surprise-surprise, according to the latest Leger poll on the topic, a year into Trump's second term, Americans are still split down the middle in a near statistical tie between Democrats and Republicans on a generic presidential ballot:

And in the last election, it was famously the price of eggs.
They also care big time about immigration, as we have seen.
You guys keep saying that, but I don't think it is...
You may think what you'd like. You can deny the facts all you want. Yet these are the facts of why Americans voted for Trump last time around according to the Americans that did the voting:

So, according to Trump voters, their number one issue was the price of eggs, with number two issue being all those criminal rapist insane-asylum-escapee illegal immigrants eating dogs in Springfield, Ohio. And they literally ran out of issues to care about after that.

There have been many meme's of Donald Trump "received" awards. Had to look up AVN before laughing.

The AVN Awards are film awards sponsored and presented by the American trade magazine AVN annually to honor achievements in the global adult entertainment industry. The awards are often called the "Oscars of porn." The award ceremony occurs in early January during the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada. AVN sponsored the first AVN Awards ceremony in February 1984.

DOJ vows to press charges after activists disrupt church where Minnesota ICE official is a pastor

From https://apnews.com/article/minnesota-ice-doj-church-protest-st-paul-46dac5c5595ec78e3360ec927eef92d2
The U.S. Department of Justice said Sunday it is investigating a group of protesters in Minnesota who disrupted services at a church where a local official with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement apparently serves as a pastor.

A livestreamed video posted on the Facebook page of Black Lives Matter Minnesota, one of the protest’s organizers, shows a group of people interrupting services at the Cities Church in St. Paul by chanting “ICE out” and “Justice for Renee Good.” The 37-year-old mother of three was fatally shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis earlier this month amid a surge in federal immigration enforcement activities.

The protesters allege that one of the church’s pastors — David Easterwood — also leads the local ICE field office overseeing the operations that have involved violent tactics and illegal arrests.

U.S. Department of Justice Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon said her agency is investigating federal civil rights violations “by these people desecrating a house of worship and interfering with Christian worshippers.”

“A house of worship is not a public forum for your protest! It is a space protected from exactly such acts by federal criminal and civil laws!” she said on social media.
Attorney General Pam Bondi also weighed in on social media, saying that any violations of federal law would be prosecuted.
Nekima Levy Armstrong, who participated in the protest and leads the local grassroots civil rights organization Racial Justice Network, dismissed the potential DOJ investigation as a sham and a distraction from federal agents’ actions in Minneapolis-St. Paul.

“When you think about the federal government unleashing barbaric ICE agents upon our community and all the harm that they have caused, to have someone serving as a pastor who oversees these ICE agents, is almost unfathomable to me,” said Armstrong, who added she is an ordained reverend. “If people are more concerned about someone coming to a church on a Sunday and disrupting business as usual than they are about the atrocities that we are experiencing in our community, then they need to check their theology and the need to check their hearts.”

The website of St. Paul-based Cities Church lists David Easterwood as a pastor, and his personal information appears to match that of the David Easterwood identified in court filings as the acting director of the ICE St. Paul field office. Easterwood appeared alongside DHS Secretary Kristi Noem at a Minneapolis press conference last October.

Cities Church did not respond to a phone call or emailed request for comment Sunday evening, and Easterwood’s personal contact information could not immediately be located.

Easterwood did not lead the part of the service that was livestreamed, and it was unclear if he was present at the church Sunday.

In a Jan. 5 court filing, Easterwood defended ICE’s tactics in Minnesota such as swapping license plates and spraying protesters with chemical irritants. He wrote that federal agents were experiencing increased threats and aggression and crowd control devices like flash-bang grenades were important to protect against violent attacks. He testified that he was unaware of agents “knowingly targeting or retaliating against peaceful protesters or legal observers with less lethal munitions and/or crowd control devices.”

“Agitators aren’t just targeting our officers. Now they’re targeting churches, too,” the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency stated. “They’re going from hotel to hotel, church to church, hunting for federal law enforcement who are risking their lives to protect Americans.”

Black Lives Matter Minnesota co-founder Monique Cullars-Doty said that the DOJ’s prosecution was misguided.

“If you got a head — a leader in a church — that is leading and orchestrating ICE raids, my God, what has the world come to?” Cullars-Doty said. “We can’t sit back idly and watch people go and be led astray.”

Supposedly there's been preliminary discussion of UEFA (European) nations pulling out of this year's World Cup in the US.

To be quite honest with you, I am surprised any matches are being held in the US.

As I said before, it screams 1936 Berlin Olympics and I fully expect Trump to send ICE to ensure the athletes leave. I also expect ICE to be positioned outside the venues in the name of "ensuring nobody overstays their VISA".

If I was FIFA I would pull all matches out of the US and focus solely on the US and Canada. It would anger Trump to no end but it is safer for the athletes.

This may go down as a black mark against FIFA and be remembered quite well for what actions they did not take.
