Restaurant Comings & Goings

"Denovia, whose name comes from the Latin for “anew,” is equal parts coffee shop and wellness centre. It was inspired by owner Nick Wang’s wife, Angel Di, who is a licensed aromatherapist. “We wanted to create a space that helps people live healthier lives—not only from the medical side but from the mental health side,” he says. “There are a lot of places like this in Japan, but there’s really no such combination in Toronto.”
I'm sure those $99 cups of coffee will enhance the mental health of people who are weighed down by their piles of money.

Mississauga to limit number of restaurants in Ridgeway Plaza

Following many noise and congestion complaints, Mississauga city council has approved zoning changes in Ridgeway Plaza. It would limit the number of restaurants allowed to operate in the space.

to be honest...i don't know how enforceable that will be?
I imagine Mississauga will not issue a business license, so they would not be able to operate.

I do wonder if the city would be doing this if the mall hosted an (ad hoc) annual night Christmas market, rather than people gathering during Ramadan...

Could also not issue a Building Permit if you send in renovation drawings

Good it's a start. Plazas are for shopping and dining, not for large gatherings to loiter, drag race, do vehicle burnouts, brawl, illegally light fireworks and blast music all hours of the night, and worst of all, the trash that gets left behind that blows onto nearby proprieties.

I'm sure you would see Toronto doing something too if there were altercations and street racing at the Distillery Christmas Market.

Nadege on Queen West has been renovating to present a new concept:

"On Feb. 6, the Queen West shop will officially evolve into Chez Nad by Nadège: a full-scale reimagining of the brand as an all-day French “culinary maison.” The back of the space at 780 Queen Street West has been gutted and transformed into a seated bistro, designed to bridge the gap between morning coffee and late-night cocktails."

Some of the brown paper in the window fell down and it didn't look like there was any renovation activity going on. Now the leased sign is gone and it seems to be For Lease again. (This is Greenwin Square on Bloor E west of Sherbourne.)
This morning I noticed a sign for Pho 128 has gone up above this location. Still brown paper and For Lease in the window.
