Most/all of the pop-ups are gone.......they were a market-sounding exercise.

A test.

From discussions w/franchisees, for the most part, they weren't particularly successful relative to cost.

A&W may have a different view.

I suspect they are hoping the free-standing location will work better, they certainly aren't pursuing an aggressive roll-out last I checked though. So I'm inclined to think of this as market-test 2.

Just checked, we're at 3 free-standing Prets nationally, 2 in Toronto, 1 in Vancouver.

We'll know they're serious when they're adding at least one a month.

As someone who got lunch out of that A&W/Pret often-ish, I liked having the Pret options in that A&W. It was nicer than just getting yet another chicken burger. But they're delusional if they think I'm gonna walk 10-15 minutes each way to the store on Adelaide.

Hoarding is up with signs for Pret on the former Fabbrica space in the path at TD center. Don't know if that's new or not, I don't walk past that very often.

I need to give it another try. Like @Tuscani01 said, it's a decent place to grab something when you're travelling — it's my go to on the go in London and New York — but there's this funny phenomena when you're travelling, particularly when you're paying in a different currency, you kind of don't think about how much you're spending until you see your credit card bill in CAD after your vacation.

I bought a sandwich and a coffee at Pret when it opened on Adelaide. The coffee wasn't great, the sandwich was good but pricey. Buying that sandwich in my hometown where I know a dozen other places I could go eat at and paying in Canadian dollars, I just didn't see the appeal. But as someone who defaults to Subway when I'm hungry and in a rush, I shouldn't be too picky. It's been a year, I can't remember how much I paid, comparable to a Subway sub?
