St Lawrence Market

I was surprised to see this opening right across the street from Pet Cuisine, mainstay of the neighbourhood, operated for 20 years by councilor Chris Moise. And there at least two other pet food shops within a 5 minute walk as well. I know there are a lot of dogs in the hood, but I hope there's sufficient business for all these places to share.
Yes, they clearly have not learned much from the previous tenant - the now-closed pot store!

That street was probably the most obvious place in the entire world for a Christmas market that didn't actually have a Christmas market prior to 2024. I don't know who all the dim bulbs who stood in the way of it for years are, but they should never be allowed to comment on public affairs again.

Toronto city council? Tone deaf seems to be their MO.

Market street re-open to traffic? Saw the crews taking away the bollards this afternoon.
The plan was always that (at least for THIS year) that the street will re-open for traffic and PARKING over the winter. The plan is that from this summer onwards it will be closed to traffic 365/365.

@DSCToronto - I wonder who is making this so complicated. New exceptions a brought in to have a handful useless parking spots on that small stretch bought back for 3 months?

I know some merchants are always complaining, but Market St. became finally a peaceful street for people especially families with children without being fearful to be driven over!

Yes, some people do like the idea of adjacent parking but the BIA, the SLNA and , I think, Councillor Moise ARE in favour of a permanent closure of Market Street. I suggest that you (and others!) email Moise to ask him why it is reopening and urge him to sort this out. Councillor Moise <Councillor_Moise@toronto.ca>
