From this report, you're right. Although it's slightly dated, the cross-regional routes and those going in and out of Toronto account for half of all ridership. One can hope for 2027 that they focus on increasing service on these routes.
Really unfortunate most of the 2026 service plan isn't focused on increasing frequency. Running service later into the night + new routes is great, but when it's only every 30 minutes with questionable reliability, people are still going to get in their cars.
This was really informative, thank you! Just goes to show how much low-hanging fruit this City has, yet no one seems to be able to pick it so to speak.
Agreed, extending service to midnight will help a lot with the last-mile trips. Having said that, so many routes are in-need of more frequent service like the 920. That bus is so packed in the evenings, yet the headways are every 30 mins, and service to Scarborough ends at 10-11pm.
At the Executive Committee meeting on Wednesday, DRT presented their 2026 Service Plan. Find it interesting that there's more attention towards extending routes and their operating hours, rather than frequencies/headways.
Line 6 information is now available on the TTC's website. Something interesting to note is that off-peak service is listed as every 9-10 mins, as opposed to the 10-12 min headways that were previously listed.
It seems odd to me that they haven't restored 15-min service on the 920. Maybe it's because the 921 trips have taken some of the burden off that branch? I'm not sure
I honestly don't see the service levels increasing to true rapid transit until the entire DSBRT is built out. I wonder though if Route 900 is going to be running in a mix of centre-median lanes and mixed traffic for the mean time, how the buses will make that transition?
I was playing around with the Transit App, when I stumbled upon this:
This new Route 306 runs up Cochrane, then Rossland and then turns down Des Newman and loops back to the GO station. It seems to run during rush-hour only. It wasn’t in the list of September service changes, does anyone have...
I’m frankly disappointed, especially with the documents from the last TEC meeting suggesting the fall service changes would be much more than this. Hopefully something comes along later in the fall or January.
