around 6:00 pm today: so there were 2 private security cars blocking the road to the parking garage (stationed under the old bridge). Same with a private security car blocking access to kings college road from college. Not sure if construction is on going during the day
The walkway adjacent to the garage entrance is coming along. However the roads leading into the area are blocked due to security so I'm not sure how much construction can progress these days
April 15: exterior almost finished
I was in a lab meeting last week, and I heard that they designed the building to support a 5-8 story addition. Makes sense if you look into the windows and see the massive concrete columns. Of course this would likely be 10 years into the future.
From The Strand: "The geothermal field will also act as both a garage and a subterranean classroom, where engineering students can see the inner workings" . The covered window may just be a display for the pipes as you said, but there is definitely some sort of classroom or interactive space in...
Here is a very quick walk through:
Entering from North West entrance
Looking towards North East entrance (car entrance)
A look at the EV charging pads:
Walking towards the elevator entrance (South East)
It looks like these glass windows may be for the small lecture hall which is...
Guys.. the parking garage is open! Just chatted with a worker, said it’s open to walk around in. I couldn’t go in as I was late for my class. I’ll probably check it out around 12:30pm today
I stumbled upon the crane operators instagram, he seems to post amazing views every day (https://www.instagram.com/canadian_cranes?igsh=MTFnMWFsNGJxNzBmbw==).
In one of his clips, he said this crane is the tallest free standing crane in North America!
Will part 2 of the build connect the two towers like seen in the render? First photo is from Feb 7 viewing out of Princess Margaret cancer research tower
I recall seeing a PDF for Sunnybrook's master plan which involves adding a 6-8 story building on their current parking lot outside M-wing. All I can find now is just a photo of the proposed building on this site. Not sure if they'll retain parking at that location, but as a Sunnybrook employee...
I spoke way too soon.. looks like they're going to do some more digging in the upcoming week for water main connection. Hope they aren't going to tear up a lot of road
Just walked through Y&E, there are ZERO lane restrictions or sidewalk restrictions! Aside from the couple missing sidewalk pavers needed to be poured, it's pretty much back to 100%.
I didn't show it, but there is a fire pit at the floor of the gazebo. It looks like a gas fire pit, but even if it's not I'm not sure if having a wooden structure over a fire pit would be safe
