I gotta say, seeing intensification in Meadowvale makes me happy. It's such a nice area, and with plenty of amenities that'd make it perfect for more density.
How is this neighbourhood midrise? It's decidedly been a lowrise area with a collection of highrise structures for over 50 years now. It'll continue to be as much...but slowly more high density development is occuring, which is a good thing. Being so close to two subway stations, which are...
Apologies, I'd say up to the future roadway (I keep forgetting Webb Drive will someday be extended), and yes, into the school land. I don't know where it starts from the wooded patch adjacent to the park, it's a buffer zone of sorts at the moment. (seemingly)
I took this from Rathburn yesterday. The building certainly adds more good texture to the skyline, it's a good contrast from the more monotomous glass/spandrel clad structures we've seen going up in recemt years. I just wish one of these buildings would hsve retail.
Now that's what I call humour! Anyways, I'm more concerned by the front hapf of this in terms of how it'll engage the surrounding area...the south elevations really do line up well with nearby structures which is a pleasant rarity these days.
That's why I look forward to this project being completed. It'll be an innovative, efficient means of housing hundreds of families. /s
bah, I can't even find a way to be sarcastic about this project. It's such a poorly designed building through and through.
It's a pretty ugly pattern, but it could be worse. I'm more concerned by street level design here considering the towers are just a straight, massive vertical massing.
I wouldn't say this is a positive contribution to the skyline...except perhaps if you wanted to isolate the neighbourhood as its own skyline.
I'm not surprised with how this project is turning out, but it just makes me disappointed to see this behemoth rise. It reminds me of the project "Home"...
