Today. I'm posting this reverse chronologically, my second last post is a drawing I drew this back in May of 2022, I'm surprised by how accurate my rendering of the crane turned out to be. I rendered the old town hall that was at the corner of Yonge and Broadway, sort of a past to future view...

Well, I meant moreso the electrical substation and hydro infrastructure right by Kipling. I realize your statement above all the time hehe, esp in more lowrise areas. Yea! I was shocked too. I thought this would just stay a Starbucks.

Oh, I see. Thanks for clarifying.

Me too, whenever I'm in the area. I'm an impatient pedestrian...but very careful. I learned that from living in Mississauga. The infrastructure by this intersection like you said is lacking, and is woefully inadequate for what is now a high density urban setting.

Here's my contribution from 20 minutes ago...I forgot how depressing this area can be on an overcast, rainy day.

Right. I assume they'll push for an affordable component in place of the commercial space as other projects have done in North York/Midtown.

While I understand offices aren't selling much outside of prime space in the core, losing 250K+ of space in a single redevelopment is no small matter. It'd be nice if some space was retained in this proposal. The location itself is very central fir the area which would help.

Nope, but it's very much a reference to the prolific representation of Hariri Pontarini's architectural firm in Toronto's skyline. This latest mockup certainly shares some similarities to designs from the firm.

It's YUUUUGEEEE. I haven't seen this in person since a late night walk to the subway a few months ago, when most of these buildings were about at grade to maybe 4 floors high, I'm impressed by how fast this construction team is!

Drat! I saw it last night but thought that was a rental project already covered on this site....actually, I was thinking of the small lot where a plaza is, east of Yonge.

    Mississauga Ravines on Main | ?m | 3s | City Park

I can't believe it's almost done...though this land has been in limbo for years. I guess it's just odd to see more density in this odd stretch of Main.

Well, the 91 stories are being 86'd, instead being subbed for a single 86 all day. Thanks for sharing those @thaivic , it's nice to see long distance shots of this project to really put things into perspective.

I know I sound like a *total* optimist here, but I figure that south wall may be a fine shade of grey spandrel, perhaps with faux windows in light of their being no windows there. I am very curious how they handle the street level here, the structural column in the middle of the heritage facade...

Agreed. I find it curious they're going so high here. I expect some pushback here, certainly some kind of negotation (which is likely why the proposal is aiming higher).
