At last! There has been a sign up for a long time indicating a group of sculptures titled "Seated Bear With Friends", and we've seen the friends, but not the seated bear.
There is also equipment for a playground with slides, visible on a hill overlooking Eglinton, but of course it's not accessible to the public. These will probably be installed in the new park.
It will be nice to see the area looking like something other than a construction site with everything fenced off.

I didn't realize how huge the bear statue is. Here is a shot taken from some distance away, from behind the HH Angus building.

I wanted to get some pictures of the playground slides, etc. next to it. When everything opens, I suppose I'll have to sneak in at night and ride down the slide.

For those who care, the opening date for the park with the bear is less than a week away, on Tuesday November 18.
However...
It was also said the park's name, Crosstown Park South (not to be confused with South Park) is just temporary, and a new name will be announced before the park opens.
Recent posts are calling it Big Bear Park, but emphasizing this is the park's "nickname" (which means what local people call it unofficially, but there are no local people, the neighbourhood is all under construction, so it's the developers' own "nickname").
Also, it's too fancy for a nickname, I think. Bear Park would have been sufficient..
So I don't know if there is another "real" name not announced yet. And the time of the opening ceremony (it sounds like there will be one) has not been announced.
So maybe the planned opening date is a phony. (Well, it's Crosstown, so who would be surprised!)
If there is a ceremony, I'll probably nip over, since it's local to me.

The park's opening ceremony happened today. The big slide is not open yet, unfortunately.

All through the play area, there are things that make music or sounds. There are perhaps close to 100 of these things, though most are small. Here are a few.

The bear's artist, Dean Drever, delivered a short speech.
