Toronto Union Park | 303.33m | 71s | Oxford Properties | Hariri Pontarini

The problem is getting under streets - or, more accurately, finding someone to pay for that!

The existing PATH map shows the eastward connection would be to the Oxford owned Convention Centre:

It would need to pass under the City Park, but that is already strata over a parking garage, assuming there is space under the ramp, this is a very viable connection.

However, there is currently nothing to the north of this site that is PATH connected.

The site directly north is slated for redevelopment, at some point, maybe.....

The Planning Report for that one does mention protection for a future PATH connection, however, there is no retail proposed on level one below and I don't see the knock-out panel marked.

Council is being asked to amend the by-law regarding this project. SEE: https://secure.toronto.ca/council/agenda-item.do?item=2025.MM34.12
Among the requirements is a PATH route through the whole site with knock outs.

If I remember correctly The Well has a knockout panel for the proposed Spadina GO?

Imagine the PATH snuck along Front St connecting whatever ends up being built at 400 Front Street with The Well and GO Station (Which I still wish would become future “Union West”)

Someday, someone in power will wonder whether it is a good idea to encourage everyone to stay off the street and hang out in basements. Apparently this is not that day.
