Always love the aerial. Something I wonder about though. So the track goes underground in the Distillery, would that be cut and cover? I’m thinking back to (I think it was) the borer used for Crosstown and the whole production it took to get it into the ground. They wouldn’t get a borer in and turn it south for a couple hundred metres right?

Our understanding that EVERYTHING underground on the Ontario Line route will be done via Boring machines between the 2 x Tunnel Portals on the Map.

Totally agree that it is a very "snakey" / bendy route for using Tunnel-Boring Machines, which is adding to the huge expense of the ONTARIO LINE project, but it was determined to be cheaper (and easier) that trying to TUNNEL under the DON RIVER.

TBM launches northbound from Corktown, disassembled at Queen station. Sequential excavation (probably roadheader) south to Don portal.

It isn't snakey and bendy because of the tunnelling cost under the Don; it is snakey and bendy because it was intended to relief Union Station at Exhibition and East Harbour.

I still find it so odd this station is called Corktown, considering it's between the Esplanade and the Distillery. My mother has lived in a condo there for over 25 years. I've never called that area Corktown, but anyway...

Yes, the St Lawrence folk thought it should be St Lawrence or a name commemorating the former uses of the site. First Parliament, Gaol, Gas Plant or ????? Metrolinx used to say the name is not yet decided but I think that ship sailed awhile ago. Most people say that Corktown is EAST of Parliament and north of King and St Lawrence is west of Parliament and south of King.

Or just call it the Distillery? But what do I know lol

and the station isn't even on that image.

The station would have been better off as "Distillery" or "Distillery District" as it's a huge tourist driver (i.e. people who really need good wayfinding) and is actually close by and a good descriptor of what the area is referred to.

the north site is located in the lower left corner of the map of boundaries.
so it's tricky to name while it's the meeting point of Corktown, distillery, or even old toronto...
anyways I am fine with "Corktown" as it represents the heritage of this part of the city well :)

and this is the map on St Lawrence Neighbourhood Assn site (and they have been around for far longer than the Corktown group) and the boundaries of the Old Town Toronto (Formerly St Lawrence Market) BIA are the same. That said, I agree that Distillery might be better name!
