What’s being seen here is actually the lower utility level that will host the mechanics for the escalators and some other utilities for the USEP project, if you consider all the passenger spaces in the Bremner Concourse as a single level, this would be a level below that.

The tenth map in my series of Toronto Union Station maps is finished.
This layer focuses on the train platform level portion of Union Station between York Street and Bay Street:
• York Concourse Entrances
• VIA Concourse Entrances
• Bay Concourse Entrances
• Bremner Concourse Entrances
• Bay West Teamway Entrances
• Platforms 3-28
The platforms between York Street and Bay Street will see massive changes in the future.
Going off multiple public sources, most platforms will be combined and widened, and at least 17 new staircases and elevators will be added to improve passenger flow and accessibility.
I’ll start posting the next maps in batches so I don’t flood the thread with individual posts each time one is finished, still have 10 more to do

Since you've posted on a couple of accounts and since the "Postings" page of the profile doesn't specifically call out images like "Latest Activity" I'm having trouble finding older ones. If you don't have a public spot, might I suggest you create a thread just for them, sort of like how Tim MacDonald had a thread dedicated to his drone pics.

On UrbanToronto I only use this account! I’ve thought about a website for everything I’ve ever made but I honestly don’t have the time to dedicate for that.
Here are the 10 maps of Union Station I’ve done so far:
When I’m finished the entire project I’m going to renumber the maps into something easier to understand, right now it’s kind of nonsensical.

I’m not sure what work is currently happening to the exterior of the Headhouse, but I really don’t like the metal trim currently being added. It’s not polished and it sticks out like a sore thumb.
I’m hoping this is just temporary but it’s already been installed in places the work has finished

It’s hard to tell in your photo what kind of metal that is, but most metals exposed to the elements oxidize and gain a patina. There’s a good chance that it darkens to match a similar colour of the stone in a short time. Heritage restoration folks usually know what they’re doing, I wouldn’t worry.

I saw this happen, or at least being written over. It’s the taxi mafia in front of the station. If you sit and observe them, they compete with one another, sometimes get violent (yes, I’ve seen them push and shove other taxi drivers), hover over people as they come out of the station harassing them to take a taxi. I’ve witnessed cabbies kick cars (presumably Ubers) stopped in the loading zone.
The city needs to police this. The councillor for the area of the station doesn’t care. I’ve written her office and called her and haven’t even gotten a response.
They’re not temporary. It took them literal years to procure these and they chose the worst solution, and the worst option that this supplier provided. There were blocks with seating and they chose the cheapest most basic ones. Same supplier:
The whole problem here is that this is all just security theatre. The jersey barriers are still there but far enough apart that a car can drive through. So what was their point?

You see thousands of people walking down Bay Street at rush hour, no barriers, only to have barriers in front of their last 10M of commute to Union. What does that solve?
All these do is hinder pedestrian flow.

This is a few weeks old now, bollards are being installed at the front of the Bay East Moat:
This area is such a disaster, I wish a bigger focus was put on fixing up the sidewalks and streets around Union during the renovations.
