A sea of cars surrounds Yorkdale Shopping Centre (unseen, off to the left). Recently built residential towers in the background, however, signal the sea-change that is coming to this parking lot, and many such Toronto shopping centre parking lots over the coming years. Across the street is the first high-rise redevelopment in the surroundings, a trend that will soon enough overtake Yorkdale, sequestering the cars in garages when more residential towers and pedestrian mews bring high-density development to car-centred wastelands.
