As we continue to analyze UrbanToronto activity during 2024, the project pages that captured the most attention in our Database highlight the developments shaping Toronto and the Greater Golden Horseshoe. From the tallest towers to the grandest communities, these projects represent our collective ambition to grow taller, denser, and better connected.
Looking at the database pages that our readers accessed most frequently, these are the projects and proposals that resonated not only for their scale and design but also for their role in defining the future of the GGH. The rise of mixed-use communities continues to reinvent suburban and urban spaces alike, while at the same time, iconic architecture stands tall, and new green spaces like the Lower Don Lands reiterate the importance of recreation and ecology in modern urban planning.
Let’s run down the list of the database files that captured the most eyeballs in 2024, starting with three tall, new buildings (with many others scattered throughout the list):
24. 252 Church
23. 8 Elm
22. Ivy Condos
One of several shopping centre transformations in the proposal or project stage, QuadReal Property Group's masterplanned redevelopment for the 32-acre Cloverdale Mall site at Dundas and The East Mall in Etobicoke calls for over new residential 5,200 units. 5. KING Toronto
Designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry, the first tower at Forma is rising in Downtown Toronto's Entertainment District. Since its groundbreaking in June, 2023, the 73-storey east tower now rises above grade, later to be joined by an 84-storey west tower.
