Before it was re-marketed as Bloor-Yorkville, the area around Bloor and Yonge streets was Uptown, hence the name of the condo at the centre of this shot, which itself was named for the cinema complex that was demolished to make way for it. When the Uptown condo was built in the 2010s, it was the first building in the area to match the height of the Manulife Centre, still standing proudly to its west, but both are now dwarfed by more recent towers rising in the area. This southeast-facing image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor zaatarandcrepes not only captures recently completed additions to the area such as 1 Yorkville, the Four Seasons Hotel and Residences, and 1 Bloor East, but several rising into the skies around them like 50 Scollard, 11YV, and most notably, The One, with its V-highlighted corners trailing about 20 storeys behind the top of the future supertall tower.
