As Toronto came alive with events and summer mainstays in May, 2024, from Cirque du Soleil to Canada's Wonderland reopenings, the city buzzed with numerous high-profile events and significant urban development news. Among the most exciting happenings was the grand opening of the Wellington Market at The Well, offering a fresh culinary hotspot in the heart of Toronto. Meanwhile, when it comes to tower cranes, despite a slight decrease in the total number, the Greater Toronto Area still maintained a high crane count compared to other cities, keeping its position as a leader in North American construction activity.

Key construction projects also saw significant progress. The One continues to ascend at the top of our lists of database files and threads, now under its new construction manager SKYGRiD. In the Port Lands, the ambitious Lower Don Lands redevelopment carries on towards its targeted completion by the end of this year, transforming the waterfront into a greener, more accessible space.

Let's take a closer look at our top stories, database files, and threads for May, 2024.

Our Top Ten Most Read News Stories

Starting our Top Ten New Stories at #16 is a new proposal unveiled for a nine-tower development adjacent to the Bowmanville GO station, which aims to significantly enhance the local area by introducing a mix of residential, commercial, and public spaces. This ambitious project would transform four parcels in the eastern GTA into three blocks, with towers ranging from 30 to 40 storeys. The site's height and density leverages its proximity to the GO transit system immediately to the south.
