Just like that, we find ourselves at the beginning of the last month of the year, and looking back over what was big on UrbanToronto in November, 2023. It was a month where three of our most followed projects all took a top honour, one in each of three areas that we track, and all of which have been hogged in some months by just one of them; The One. The One still reigns supreme in one of our categories this month, but each category has its own winner this time; let's dig in!

Our Top 10 Most Read News Stories:

We kick off our list not with a tower, but with a major step taken by Toronto City Council; its approval of the recommendations in the Generational Transformation of Toronto’s Housing System would boost the HousingTO 2020-2030 Action Plan targets from 40,000 to 65,000 new rent-controlled homes to be built, with the City leading development of new homes at five strategic sites, while 51 City-owned sites have been designated for adding 16,000 to 17,500 new rent-controlled units to Toronto's housing stock.

…and chief rival to The One for Canada's first supertall building, Pinnacle One Yonge, took the honours as this month's biggest story when The City started to get behind the push to make Pinnacle One Yonge Canada's tallest building by recommending approval of some height extensions.

Our Top 10 Most Searched Database Files:

Currently under construction and set to stand 55 storeys tall — just over half the height of the proposal for Pinnacle One Yonge — a recent construction update story helped propel 8 Wellesley into a high spot among our most searched database files.

In the meantime, the rest of the list have all be among our top performers for months, with the exception of 101 Spadina gaining substantially in popularity as some updates were annouced. Up in the top three spots though, we have the big three suspects, but not in the normal order; this month The Well reigns supreme as it begins its opening to the public!

Our Top 10 Busiest Threads:

Taking a look at our Busiest Threads, we find Ontario Line 3 — a 15.6km-line that will run from Exhibition Place to the current home of the Ontario Science Centre — among the most popular threads, with two other sooner-to-open LRT lines getting more attention.

13. Ontario Line 3

Finally, while The One may have seceded the top spot amidst the databases, it continues to be our busiest thread by quite a margin… but with the two other big suspects, Pinnacle One Yonge and The Well, taking number two and three spots respectively, and giving all three of these projects hat-tricks in our topping off of November!
