We had a vote. General sentiment around the forum was that the thing was a little on the drab side, and generally guilty of "getting in the way." After that, it was just formalities.

CNW - URBAN TORONTO CHOOSES NEXT TARGET FOR DEMOLITION
May 30, 2007
Less than a week ago, a dangerous incident took place after a huge slab of marble fell some 60 floors from the tower at First Canadian Place causing major street closures in the heart of the business district.
"Attempts were being made by the owner to repair the tower but because the building has become unsafe... and frankly is little more than a one thousand foot eyesore... the city believes it is necessary to take action. First Canadian Place will be demolished and the owners (Brookfield Properties) will be mandated to reimburse the city for all costs" said chief building official Ann Borooah.
Last week a historic block of Georgian townhouses that has stood neglected for years on Shuter St. began collapsing requiring the city to demolish the rest of the structure.
