I don't remember hearing that funding had fallen through for this project. It seems that this part of the waterfront project is cancelled. I wonder where the funding was supposed to come from and why it didn't show up?

maybe someone felt that the funding was beter spent on war & destruction? :eek

Yes, some international students were in Toronto as part of the U of Peace program and the classes were held with the help of a U of T department. They were hoping to be able to develop something more permanent but I imagine it would be hard to compete with the economics of Costa Rica.

I remember hearing about this initially, but then it pretty much dropped off the radar.

It's unfortunate things didn't work out.

We should have fought tooth and nail for this!

The head of the U Peace was Maurice Strong, a friend of Paul Martin's who pushed for the Toronto site for a new campus. With Martin gone, and Toronto's support for the project barely tepid, I wouldn't be surprised if it has fallen through. I'll ask around, since it's entirely possible that it's still slowly working its way through.
