From the Revue Cinema (Roncesvalles Ave. a bit south of Bloor). Might be of interest both to film nuts and recent-history nuts.

Film critic, author and broadcaster Kevin Courrier is fascinated how films reflect the times in which they were made. He's looked at eight U.S. presidencies from Kennedy to George W. to see what the movies from each era tell us about underlying attitudes and issues, and he will share his insights in an eight-part lecture series starting Saturday, April 26 at 10:30 a.m. at the Revue. In his first lecture, Courrier begins with Kennedy's New Frontier on Saturday, and on the following Wednesday and Thursday, the Revue will screen the 1962 version of The Manchurian Candidate, a film that foreshadowed Kennedy's assassination in Dallas. What better way to mark the U.S. election than this political and cinematic retrospective. Regular Revue pricing will apply. Watch www.revuecinema.ca for more details.
