If it's any consolation, "old town" is a stretch. It's in the far southwest of the built-up area, on the opposite side of the Two-Mile Creek from anything "historical".

As far as suburban retail developments (and their parking requirements) go these days, I think they did a pretty decent job here. Even though it's still pretty car-centric, I think it would still be an enjoyable place to be. It also looks like they've designed some of the buildings to look like old storefronts that have been modernized/renovated, which is maybe an odd choice but I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt here. Imagine if we had suburban plazas built like this in places like Burlington, Richmond Hill, or Whitby? We'd be drooling haha

Hyatt as an operator also adds confidence that the service will be at the level. I like when such projects are done with public space, and not just build a hotel and that's it.
