I was looking at the latest Toronto Cycling Map for 2025 and I thought it would be interesting to flip through the downtown section of past maps to see how Toronto's bike lanes have evolved over time. Beyond the current iteration from 2021-2025, using archive.org I found 8 other maps from 2004-2006 + 2011-2016 minus 2014, as well as the map of existing facilities in the 2001 Toronto Bike Plan whose design it appears inspired the initial series. Each map is cropped below to Hallam/Bartlett NW, Ontario Place S and Broadview E. I also added the Cyclists' Road Map from 1896 for fun which just shows paved roads in York county.
Part of the reason I am sharing this is to get help finding the missing maps. As far as I know there is no blog or other website compiling this information, but that would be helpful too if the work was already done. Some years' maps were split into multiple parts, and some may not exist at all. The Toronto City Archive probably has the physical brochures for any pdfs which have been lost to time (and maybe the pdfs too, I will look into it later).
The list of maps found so far with links:
2025 - 2024 - 2023 - 2022 - 2021(West, East) - 2019 - 2018 - 2017 - 2016 - 2015(Downtown, Tiles) - 2014 - 2013(West) - 2012(West, East) - 2011(West, East) - 2010 - 2009 - 2008 - 2007 - 2006 - 2005 - 2004 - 2003 - 2001 - 2000
2025-06-06 edit: I received pdfs for most remaining years to 2000 (not 2020, 2007 or 2002), but was advised I need permission to share the files publicly. I have updated the thumbnails below for 2025-2010, and will post 2010-2000 separately.
2025-06-17 edit: I have included scanned images from 2003 (for higher quality) and for 2007 (pdf not found), and think this includes all available maps now, as none were made for 2020, nor 2002 as far as I can tell.
