That because a two hour drive south will get you to Atlantic City which has over a dozen world class casinos.

Although one could say a similar thing about Niagara Falls (on a smaller scale of course).

EDIT: On second thought, perhaps I should elaborate on that. I think Niagara Falls has the potential to become our Atlantic City. It's a similar distance from the central city, and already has the two casinos there to build upon if demand increases in the Golden Horseshoe. A GO connection might help in that regard. I'm not opposed to a full casino in Toronto, but something about this development just rubs me the wrong way. Hopefully it will work out though.

whole point is the Province has done a decent job of convincing Ontarian's of taking small little vacation trips inside Ontario.

Especially with the recession, taking your family to a nice beach on the Bruce would cost at most $200...

The western terminus of the Finch LRT is, if I have read correctly, to be Humber College. Does anyone know what this means for transit access to the Woodbine Live site? I had kind of thought it might loop around somehow, but not so much, it seems.

There is to be an EA to extend the LRT to 427 from Humber.

I believe it will be added to the current EA when it comes back out to the public.

Wait a minute. There's a huge difference! One was a rapidly declining industrial slum with an abandoned downtown where gambling and vacations for the trailer trash set had to come to the rescue, and the other one is in New Jersey.

Seriously, if someone had an update they would definitely post it here.

Khristopher,
Why do you constantly feel the need to snap at people on here.
Dude it's an internet forum... people are here to ask questions and share info.
Life is far too short... :)

Phase 2 public meeting

There's a public meeting for Phase 2 of Woodbine Live tonight (June 15th at 6pm) at the Racetrack.

The developers will be presenting their plans for the residential/office portion of the project.

Here's hoping you went and can report back, Tony.

Any word on the proposal? Did Cordish bring in a local residential development partner?

The public meeting on Monday was kind of a wash. Woodbine/Cordish planned a kind of drop-in style format, and a there was no public presentation or Q & A.

There was no information on potential residential development partners.

The plans that were up and available were conceptual to say the least - there's no firm idea on where specific buildings will go on the site, what those buildings will look like, or how the neighbourhoods will be laid out. The whole thing seemed a little premature, to be honest. It's tough to make constructive comments on a plan that is at such an early stage.

There were a whole pile of people there who were upset about the format of the meeting. The term 'gong show' comes to mind.
