it could be problematic. it would be nice to have a corridor to use something like that in toronto. it would suck on hot days though, breathing in all those creosote fumes. :eek:
 
I would be just a little bit concerned if the rail switch gets messed up and sends real train down this way...
 
They only keep moving forward in cartoons.... most likely they would just jump off the side to escape the train.
 
Woudln't it suck to lose half of that thing in a divorce. I guess it would solve the problem of having two way bike traffic tho.
 
I actually had the chance to play around with a handcar once in the abandoned rail yard at Palmerston, where a couple of tracks were saved in a town that used to have rails coming in from five directions. Of course rails now come in from zero directions.

It's hard starting off, but once you get some momentum, you can move pretty quickly.
