I just returned from my trip to Bangkok. Went there for two nights and then to Phuket for 3. Was a fun little trip and I wouldn't hesitate to go back! I got to see the good, the bad, the ugly and the just plain weird that Thailand has to offer and have a few crazy stories to tell as well The hotel was amazing and located right by Asok skytrain station (look into the Park Plaza hotel if you're ever planning a trip to Thailand, amazing rooms, great location, fantastic service.. boutique hotel atmosphere at its best!). Thailand is truly one laid back country and can be really fun to get around. I found myself fending off prositutes with tact almost my entire trip (even more bizzare since I was with a female at my side the whole time) but Thailand has so much more to offer than its obvious sex trade that I'd recommend a visit for anyone. Here's some of my Bangkok snaps.
Some views from the hotel:
They have a skytrain and MRT system in Bangkok, this is a shot of a skytrain platform.
Reminded me a bit of a certain building Chicago...
The river seems to be a popular way for tourists to get around.
A family takes a shower with water scooped from the river.
This country is about 90% Pepsi, 10% Coke. Pepsi dominates Thailand, but this was just too much!
Some of the famous pink taxis...
Bangkok has many little areas like this. It's often a street or two packed with bars, lots of neon lights, lots of girls for sale (or who at least want you to buy them drinks), lots of ladyboys and people on every corner asking you to go see a Ping Pong ball show. It's quite overwhelming and I've never seen anything quite like it. The number of midde-older aged men in these areas is quite disturbing though.
Bangkok's version of the Eaton Centre at night.
This restaraunt is called Itaewon Korean BBQ, which is ironic since Itaewon is the foreigner area of Seoul where you're much more likely to find Thai food than Korean stye BBQ.
Some kind of film shoot.
Think a giant skyscraper is going in here...
