13,750 Season tickets sold. They're capping it at 14,000.

Every game is predicted to be a sellout of 20,000.

Definitely better than I would have expected. I wonder what sales would have been without Beckham entering the league?

Beckham to miss 4 weeks with injured knee

MADRID, Spain — David Beckham will be out of action for four weeks because of a knee injury, Real Madrid said Monday.

An MRI scan at the team's Valdebas training ground showed that the 31-year-old midfielder damaged the internal ligaments of his right knee during Madrid's 1-1 draw with Getafe on Sunday in the Spanish league.

MADRID, Spain (AP) — David Beckham could be out for up to two months after hurting a knee ligament during a Spanish League game last weekend, an injury that likely eliminates any chance of his being recalled to England's national team for European Championship qualifiers this month.

The 31-year-old midfielder injured a ligament during Real Madrid's 1-1 tie with Getafe on Sunday when his momentum following a cross took him into an advertising sign behind the goal. He limped off the field and was expected to have a scan of his injured right knee Monday.

Beckham agreed in January to a five-year contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy worth about $27.5 million in base salary, His contract with Real Madrid ends June 30, and the Galaxy had expected he would join the team in August.

Beckham was taken off in the 69th minute, 37 minutes after teammate Jose Antonio Reyes was carried off on a stretcher after hurting his left knee. Both will miss Wednesday's European Champions League game at Bayern Munich.

Those knee injuries can be bothersome for some time. Hope het gets well soon. I'm a season ticket holder, hoping to see Beckham and Zizou, rumours swirl he will join the Chicago Fire of MLS.

How are his bowel movements? The MLS has a long row to sow in a sports climate dominated by 4-5 other well established pro sports leagues- but I've got my fingers crossed for TO however.

Sold Out

Season tickets have been sold out.

Flex packs to go on sale soon.

Re: Sold Out

For what the rendering showed, BMO field is turning out to be quite a nice cosy low profile stadium.

I passed by tonight and was happy with the details and scaling of the building.

If you consider it a community stadium, it will serve its purposes.

I think that MLSE's ability to sell out tickets for TorontoFC is being proven so sometime down the road, I think they'll be considering upgrading to a larger (hopefully more spectacular) purpose built venue that can accommodate more than the 20,000 BMO field fits in.

For now, since this is a new team in a relatively new league, BMO Field will work just fine.

Re: Sold Out

I never would have guessed that they would do so well- good news for soccer fans. Definitely the fan base is here in TO. But obviously the novelty factor and Beckham entering the league has a lot to do with it, so I suppose the real test will be what happens over the next few years. If they're still selling out 3-4 years from now there will certainly be grounds to expand the stadium.

Re: Sold Out

A re-united Genesis will be the first rock act to showcase at the new stadium in September 2007.

The jerseys are unveiled. Behold, the Toronto BMOs!

I hear there will be a new Leafs sweater design soon. Will it have a giant Bell, Molson, or Pizza Pizza logo? Go ML$E!

That said, it looks more European, where the players of many sports do look like NASCAR drivers with their uniforms on.

Re: Sold Out

Its amazing what a firm deadline can do to governments and construction timelines.

If Toronto wasn't going to play host to the FIFA Under 20 this summer I highly doubt government funding would have been approved so quickly and construction completed in a little over a year.

All european soccer teams carry sponsors on jerseys.

The upside is that they don't have the retarded "critter and animal" name syndrome most North American sports teams suffer from.

Right on! Look at this photo of Peter Forsberg early in his career...
