My girlfriend has decided she wants to come to Toronto for a day or two for shopping. But before we come we want to get an idea of what sort of interesting clothing stores there are in Toronto.

Basically she is looking for kind of funky, interesting clothing. Local designers, or at least Canadian designers are preferable. She is in her late 20s so nothing on the teenage side, but nothing for ladies either (it seems to be an odd age for girls to find interesting clothes).

I know at one point Queen West used to be a funky little street, though I am not sure if that is the case anymore.

If anyone has suggestions for streets/neighborhoods/areas that might be interesting or even just a few individual stores any help would be appreciated.

Check out Kensington Market as well. Most guys hate clothes shopping with their GF but I love it. You get to go in a lot of stores you never have business in and sometimes the sale women are dressed totally hot!

Queen West is pretty much crap these days, but "West Queen West" (ugh) still has several gems. Robber is very good, Preloved are good. If you want to walk a bit farther west, there's Jonathan + Olivia on Ossington.
