Distillery District? Would you buy?

Hey guys,

I was told to post this in this section.

I am considering purchasing a 650-700 sf. unit at the new Clear Spirit project at the Distillery.

I don't know a great deal about the area, and I'm not sure what plans they have for the future, so I wanted to know what you guys thought of it.

I really like the District, love all the shops, bars, and eateries, but I'm not sure if it's a wise investment.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

my two cents

Just throwing my opinion out to you...

Location: Although Distillery is artificially created, I really enjoy it. I visit the area frequently and take a lot of out-of-towners there when they come to Toronto. I wish it would expand and I wish more areas like this would pop up in Toronto. Two things I may consider in living there: 1. Although the shops there are very interesting, it's not really a convenient location for your daily grocery shopping and toiletries. 2. Winter always seems extra bleak walking through Distillery, maybe it's just me.

The building: Seems like mostly smaller layouts in the building which often lends for a higher rental percentage. Also, I'm not in favour of these two condos being dropped right in the middle of Distillery. True Spirit and Clear Spirit feel and look like a Bay Street condo which I find a bit odd that this was allowed in the planning. But since it's going up anyways, either cry about it like me or join in the fun of living there.
