(Apologies if this has been posted already.)

This *planter* appeared in Kensington Market (on Augusta) weeks ago and I'm happy to say, the police have left it alone. I love it - it just fits into the area so well. It's the kind of thing I think the city can use more of.

It's fun for a minute but what happens when it starts snowing and the street needs to be plowed?

Same thing that happens on any street with parked cars when it snows. Augusta is not a snow route. The through lane gets plowed; the side of the street that cars park on does not if there are cars in the way.

Don't they alternate the side on which you can park so that both sides get plowed at least some of the time?

They need to paint the unpainted portions of the car. The idea seems good but the completed product needs to be less of an eyesore and probably should have a place off the street. I can't see this one lasting past September.

i like it

Eyesore? not everything has to be picture perfect, completely perfectly polished, i kinda like how it is, plus kennisngton already has that type of vibe, beautifully griddy, just the right balance.

Not on Augusta.

Plowing is not the reason they alternate sides, anyway.

The car is painted! The only parts unpainted are the rims. It's in better shape than many cars on the road.

"Eyesore"? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I guess.

They could have chosen some nicer plants and flowers, looks kinda weedy. BTW is that a pot plant on the roof?

I've seen it a number of time while in Kensington. I don't think they could have come up with something more suitable for the neighbourhood. It's great!

There looks like tomatoe plants in there, which probably contributes to the weedy appearance. I'm guessing they didn't want to spend $$$ on plants.

Great fun. Reminds me of Toronto in 1970, when hippies and art students - living in those rooming houses that used to be around McCaul and Dundas - painted the sidewalks, streets, and house fronts in psychedelic colours.

Poppies might have made a nice planting in that car. A riot of tangled colour. My back garden, at this time of year, looks like the Sarawak jungle - much more unkempt than the plantings shown above.

are the plants ON the roof or is the roof missing and the plants are growing out of the interior?

either way, i love it. the hood needs watering though.
