Hurricanes to celebrate Stanley Cup with parade around arena
June 20, 2006
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- The Carolina Hurricanes will celebrate their Stanley Cup victory with a parade Tuesday winding around the team's arena.
The roads around the RBC Center were chosen because Raleigh's downtown is in the midst of reconstruction and there is too little space for thousands of fans in the center city's parks or around the antebellum state Capitol.

The celebration and parking at the RBC Center will be free for all fans.
The parade is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. at the south end of North Carolina State University's football stadium, which adjoins the RBC Center, and will circle the sports complex before arriving at the east VIP lots outside the arena.
Speakers and video presentations will begin at about 7:15 p.m.
The Hurricanes won their first NHL title with a 3-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers in the Game 7 of the best-of-seven series Monday night.
