Another historical building faces demolition

Got these e-mails from Greg Carraro ....

Hi folks,

Sorry for the short notice but it is imperative that the matter of the Trachsler Homestead be discussed. Rumours are that Councilor Ianicca plans to hold a public meeting regarding the fate of the home. If this is true (and that would be great), then we must plan our next steps. If it is only a rumour, then we must continue putting pressure on the Councilor to hold the public meeting (promised at July's City council meeting). The "Save the Trachsler Committee" has been working hard going door to door and raising the issue with the public. Wayne and Dean Summerville (the property owners) have not given us any indication that they intend to keep the home intact and continue to fight the request for designation. They currently have a demolition permit for both the barn and the house.

I STRONGLY URGE YOU TO ATTEND THE MEETING THIS THURSDAY!

Anyone who is interested in saving the Trachsler -Cooksville's oldest building- is welcomed to attend.

Sincerely,

Greg Carraro

Sorry, I left out the important stuff!

The Save the Trachsler meeting will be this Thursday, Sept. 28 @ The Grange (1921 Dundas St. West) @ 6 p.m.
