Ontario ranks third among provinces for cash receipts, behind Saskatchewan and Alberta.

Southern Ontario and southern Quebec are pat of what's referred to as the "dairy belt" that also includes Vermont, upstate New York, Michigan and Wisconsin.

I don't know to what extent it's a climate or soil thing, but corn is so iconic and strongly associated with nearby (or at least not too far) parts of the US to the west, like many states in the Midwest that are just as far north, yet not in southern Ontario.

You see cornfields in Ontario, but it's not an image that's particularly evocative of the province. I definitely think of cows and orchards before corn when I picture agriculture in Ontario, unlike the Midwest.
